A large chunk of the quality of life can often be recovered by simple devices such as magnifying reading aids.
What aids will be paid by the invalidity insurance fund when my eye-sight has deteriorated? A question to which the social worker of the Swiss Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted SFB has an answer.
How will I manage in the kitchen when I don't see very well. A course of training in practical skills for everyday tasks helps bring back self-reliance . How do I, as a blind person, find the way every day to the rail station? An orientation and mobility training course enables more independence to be achieved. With its counselling and rehabiliation centers, the SFB helps blind and partially sighted persons in their efforts to achieve maximum self-reliance.
The services available largely cover counselling, information and rehabilitation and can be used free of charge by blind and partially sighted persons and their family members. Qualified experts carry out problem identification, counselling and training courses or refer those seeking advice to other specialized offices. They will also be happy to give information to other interested persons who are in contact at work or at home with people suffering from impaired vision. In addition, regional course and group activities take account of specific needs in the leisure and education areas.
